More on the Slovenian case

During the international training combined with local online sessions the change agents from Slovenia identified the challenges in their local environment and proposed possible solutions that could be implemented as their local case in the project.

They recognized that most people think there are enough forests in their environment as almost 60% of Slovenia is covered with forests. Consequently, urban trees are often overlooked by decision-makers, experts and general public. In the past, urban trees have been subjected to improper maintenance (mostly only removed, improperly pruned etc.)

For this reason, the change agents will focus on a proposal for completing the existing municipal decrees and rules of public areas (focus on urban trees and forests) and raising awareness of the importance of trees and green infrastructure among general public.

The next steps will be to reach out relevant stakeholders, review of all existing documents on the topic and define the timeline.
